Jacob Lang, OD, FAAO:

Hi, I'm Jacob Lang, optometrist at Associated Eye Care on the east side of the Twin Cities in western Wisconsin. Our lecture was entitled, "The Optometric Year in Review, Hindsight is 2020."

[I] was honored to share the stage with Roya Habibi, Jaclyn Garlich, and Mark Buboltz, where we did a really brief, high-level overview of all the new upcoming phase 2, phase 3, new launches, new releases. Everything new in eye care, we touched on it very briefly, very rapid fire, about 90 seconds a topic. So, very entry-level information to inspire further investigation by my peers.

Key takeaways from the lecture included advancements in dry eye therapies, therapeutics, Glaucoma treatments, and retinal disease advancements as well.

I think some of the biggest highlights from this year were the advancements we saw in therapeutics for geographic atrophy, as well as myopia control. I think these advancements allude to the great growth, advancement and the opportunity that we have as eye care professionals to deliver better care for our patients and leading to healthier eyes.
