Alcon launches toric, multifocal daily disposable contact lenses

Today at SECO, Alcon Laboratories expanded its Dailies AquaComfort Plus portfolio with the launch of toric and multifocal designs.

Atlanta, GA-Today at SECO, Alcon Laboratories expanded its Dailies AquaComfort Plus portfolio with the launch of toric and multifocal designs.

Dailies AquaComfort Plus Multifocal uses the Precision Profile Design of Air Optix Aqua Multifocal. Dailies AquaComfort Plus Toric incorporates the dual thin zone Precision Curve Lens Design of Focus Dailies Toric. Both new lenses are made from nelfilcon A, the same material used in Dailies AquaComfort Plus.

Powers for Dailies AquaComfort Plus Multifocal range from +6.00 D to -10.00 D in 0.25 D steps with low, medium, and high adds. Diameter is 14.0 mm, and base curve is 8.7 mm.

Powers for Dailies AquaComfort Plus Toric range from +4.00 D to -6.00 D in -0.25 D steps and -6.50 D to -8.00 D in 0.50 D steps. Cylinder powers are -0.75 D, -1.25 D, and -1.75 D. A total of 10 axes are available at ±20 degrees of 90 and 180 degrees in 10 degree steps. Diameter is 14.4 mm, and base curve is 8.8 mm. The lens features scribe marks at 3 and 9 o’clock. Find a extra scribe mark at 6 o’clock by using the “K” in the “OK” inversion indicator mark.

In related news, the company announced that it will launch Air Optix Colors cosmetic silicone-hydrogel contact lenses in May. The lenses were FDA approved earlier this year and will be available at launch in 8 colors with FreshLook Colors technology in Air Optix lotrafilcon B material.
