Alden Optical expands Astera add parameters

Article

An additional add profile gives practitioners more options to fit their astigmatic presbyopes.

Lancaster, NY-Alden Optical recently announced that it has expanded the parameter range of Astera Multifocal Toric. Contact lens fitters are able to address higher demands for near correction with the addition of a third add profile design.

The addition of this new profile caused the company to refine its fitting recommendations for all Astera add profiles. Add profile 1 is now recommended for patients requiring an add of up to +1.50D, profile 2 for adds from +1.75D to 2.25D, and profile 3 for add requirements of +2.50D or greater.

“Astera Multifocal Toric has been well received by practitioners, particularly for its toric precision and outstanding distance vision. The one request has been for a higher add, which we are now excited to offer,” said Tom Shone, president of Alden Optical.
