Las Vegas-CooperVision announced during Vision Expo West that the unilateral pricing policy (UPP) on Sauflon clariti contact lenses will be upheld. CooperVision completed its acquisition of Sauflon Pharmaceuticals Limited in August 2014.

Sauflon clariti products went to market with UPP, said CooperVision President, Americas, Bob Ferrigno. “We will uphold that pricing.”

According to Ferrigno, new CooperVision contact lenses moving forward will be evaluated for applying UPP. Existing CooperVision products will not carry UPP.

“There was a strong voice that UPP is an important requirement for independent eyecare practitioners,” he said. “It was important that we understood the voice of the independents, and we’re responding to it.”

Ferrigno also said that other tools available from CooperVision, such as WebSystem3 and its accompanying Lens Ferry and Eye Care Premier, will help practitioners achieve the goal of keeping the contact lens sale in their offices. “With these tools, you don’t need UPP,” he said.
