EMRlogic Systems and Kowa Optimed have officially released activEHR 2012, a new electronic medical record (EMR) platform that has Kowa's imaging software embedded in it.

Torrance, CA-EMRlogic Systems and Kowa Optimed have officially released activEHR 2012, a new electronic medical record (EMR) platform that has Kowa’s imaging software embedded in it. The partnership also made Kowa the primary distributor of activEHR, the statement said.

“We believe that health-care reform and pay-for-performance reimbursement are driving new standards of care altogether and that advanced modern software technologies must replace legacy approaches,” said Dr. Ian Lane, executive vice president, technology at Kowa Optimed. “What EMRlogic and Kowa have done together with activEHR is revolutionary for eye care, and together we are seeking to establish it as a must-see solution for institutions and businesses seeking to be the eye care leaders in their respective fields and regions.”

In addition, the 2012 release includes more than 120 enhancements, including improvements in payment posting, inventory management, point-of-sale, and an advanced communications module that offers a versatile auto-generated consults and letters that also take advantage of the new ONC Direct standard required under the HITECH Act. The new release also has an expanded base of clinical decision support-a requirement for stages 2 and 3 of certification, according to a joint statement.

“The future of health care is really all about changing the way doctors use computers, thus our commitment to create an easy-to-use yet powerful and forward-looking solution, one that takes advantage of the gold-standard health-care platform we build on,” said John McCormick, director at EMRlogic.
