Energeyes meets a need in the optometric profession

I recently had the opportunity to present at the Energeyes Association regional meeting in Atlanta. I recently had the opportunity to present at the Energeyes Association regional meeting in Atlanta. Energeyes, the association of corporate-affiliated optometrists, has been in existence for a year now. I was impressed at the energy in the room: everyone was very friendly, and the camaraderie was palpable. Exhibitors’ booths were busy, and the attendees were very interested in the products on display. I presented two lectures and found the doctors in the lectures to be very attentive and engaging, and they challenged me with some really great questions. As a presenter, I always appreciate when the audience participates. It keeps me on my toes and lets me know they are really listening to the material.

Energeyes will energize corporate optometry

I’ve said previously that this group meets an unmet need within our profession, and the growth of this group definitely testifies to that. With over 11,000 corporate-affiliated ODs nationwide as potential members, it will be a powerful force in the future. Dr. Mark Uhler, the president of Energeyes, is nothing short of a visionary, and Michael Porat, the group’s executive director, is a real bundle of energy. I don’t think the man stopped during the meeting. Drs. Bill Baldwin and Naheed Ahmad, Energeyes national board members, went out of their way to make sure everyone’s questions were answered and were a wealth of information.

If you are a corporate-affiliated optometrist, I highly recommend you give this organization a look. With great member benefits, and the chance to network with like-minded ODs, you might find that Energeyes will also energize you!
