At the Envision Summit 2025 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Jessica Steen, OD, FAAO talked with glaucoma surgeons on the importance of comanaging patients throughout their lifetime.

Jessica Steen, OD, FAAO, Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, discussed the importance of co-managing glaucoma patients throughout their lifetime – emphasizing the selection of therapeutics based on mechanism of action, efficacy, and tolerability, and the strategic use of interventional therapies and surgical decision-making. Steen highlighted the necessity of collaboration between optometrists and ophthalmologists for effective patient care. She also expressed excitement about new therapeutics in clinical trials, including those for neurodegeneration and neuroprotection, which extend beyond intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction.
