The launch of the interactive vision curriculum kit series aligns with National Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month, which is recognized in August.
With August recognized as National Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month, EyeMed Vision Care is launching a series of interactive vision curriculum kits in an effort to educate grade school children on everything eye care and anatomy.1 With its launch, EyeMed will also be donating 20000 of these kits to several grade schools around the Ohio region, according to a news release.
“Children’s vision can change rapidly as they grow and develop, and it’s important to make sure they understand that having healthy eyes will help them perform their best in and outside of the classroom”, said Matt MacDonald, president of EyeMed Vision Care, in the release. “The curriculum kits are designed to be a fun and educational way to prepare them for their comprehensive eye exam, learn how their eyes function, and hopefully inspire them to want to become the next generation of eye care professionals.”
The first kit available, entitled Anatomy of the Eye, includes information on the different structures of the eye and how they work to help people see. Additionally, the kits include tips to keep eyes healthy and learning activities.2 Later this year, 3 more kits will be available, entitled Common Vision Conditions, Lens Technology: The Science of Refraction, and Eye Exams and Your Eye Doctor.1 The kits are also available for eye care providers to order for their practices to keep pediatric patients entertained while they wait for their appointments. The kits are free of charge for eye care providers to order, with printed kits available starting on August 5. Kits are ordered by the box (containing 25 kits), with a 2 box limit per practice.2
“Our mission is to elevate the way vision care is perceived and ensure people of all ages understand the important role our eyes play in maintaining good overall health and quality of life. This initiative brings us one step closer to seeing our mission come to life,” MacDonald said in the release.
Digital kits are currently available to download for free on EyeMed’s vision kit website.
