Quality, safety concerns

Article

To the Editor:

I am a licensed optician in the state of New York and a member of the Opticians Alliance of New York. Our membership has a concern regarding the selling of contact lenses over the Internet.

The contact lens patient feels a savings can be made on their part, but at the same time the patient is taking a chance by hoping the contact lens Rx is filled correctly and by a licensed professional.

Has there been an investigation by either the FDA or FTC on this issue?
