St. Louis-Eye care professionals now have easy access to important information for educating and prescribing sun protection.

The AOA and Opticians Association of America (OAA), with support from Luxottica and The Vision Council, announced the launch of the first of three, free continuing education modules in support of the Sun Initiative. The Protect, Prescribe and Present educational series is approved by COPE, the American Board of Optometry, and AOA Commission on Paraoptometric Certification (CPC).

The first module covers updated research and the health issues that result from ultraviolet (UV) and high energy visible (HEV) exposure. The course also delivers a set of actionable steps eye-care professionals can take to ensure all patients understand the importance of quality outdoor eye protection. This online course offers:

Interactive trivia.

Opportunity to connect with the speaker.

Case studies.

Discussion boards.

Valuable links to research studies.

Unique learning exercises.

Assessment test with a certificate of completion.

You can access the Sun Initiative at AOA.org/EyeLearn for COPE-credit and OAA.org or visit www.sunpresent.com for ABO and AOA CPC credit. The next two online education modules, Prescribe and Present, will launch this summer.
