Support local eyecare providers this Small Business Saturday

While millions of people hit up the big box stores to grab the best deals on Black Friday, this Saturday is for the locals as communities across the country celebrate Small Business Saturday. This movement, founded by American Express in 2010, encourages communities to rally around their local businesses and “shop small” just in time for the holidays.

This event offers a great opportunity for eyecare practices to remind patients to support local business like themselves and their neighbors. Make sure to post about the event on your practice’s social media pages and don’t forget to mention any deals or specials you may offer.

Why I work Saturdays

Not open this weekend? Bill Potter, OD, recently shared with Optometry Times why he works Saturdays and why you should too. If you are open, American Express will help you promote your practice this Small Business Saturday-just let them know you want to participate.

If your practice doesn’t offer weekend hours, you can still do your part and support your neighborhood businesses. Not sure where to start? American Express offers a search tool that can help you find small, independent businesses near you.
