The Vision Council Foundation and 20/20 Onsite are partnering to bring free vision screenings to a Boston Public Library in the coming weeks.1 Scheduled for March 29, community members are invited to visit the Grove Hall branch of the library at 41 Geneva Avenue in Dorchester, Massachusetts to have their eyes checked for distance, reading, and color. The mobile clinic will take patients as walk-ins only, according to a news release.

“We’re proud to join forces with 20/20 Onsite to bring free vision screenings to the Dorchester community in South Boston,” said Ashley Mills, CEO of The Vision Council and The Vision Council Foundation, in the release. “At The Vision Council Foundation, we are committed to ensuring that everyone has access to essential vision care, as eye health is a vital part of overall well-being. Vision screenings are a great first step toward maintaining healthy vision, and we welcome community members to stop by on March 29 to get screened and learn more about maintaining lifelong eye health.”

The vision screenings will be offered through 20/20 Onsite’s mobile clinics, which evaluate visual acuity and ocular health and can determine eye wear or other vision correction needs. The clinic will be open 10 am to 3 pm.1

“Our mission at 20/20 Onsite is to make high-quality vision care accessible for all,” said Sonali Bloom, CEO of 20/20 Onsite, in the release. “By bringing our mobile clinic to the Boston Public Library, we’re removing barriers to care and helping the community take an important step toward improving their overall health.”

20/20 Onsite has performed over 85,000 eye examinations and holds an average of over 11 years of ophthalmic expertise per clinical employee. The practice’s dropout rates are 9%, with the industry standard reported as 30%. Additionally, 20/20 Onsite has reduced patient travel distance with their mobile clinic by 82%.2
