Visionx USA has introduced topography technology to its next generation Optovue Solix FullRange and Solix Essential optical coherence tomography (OCT)/OCT angiography (OCT-A) systems.1 The new topography module, which combines topography, OCT, and OCT-A, was debuted at Vision Expo West 2024, according to a news release.

“Now, no other OCT in the US matches the capabilities of the Optovue Solix, offering multimodal anterior and posterior assessment in a single, state of the art device,” the release stated. “Additionally, it is the only OCT with FDA cleared OCT-A metrics.”

The topography module allows for precise corneal measurements for contact lens fitting and refractive surgery planning, in additional to early keratoconus detection through epithelial analysis. The OCT topography allows for comprehensive assessments of the anterior and posterior surfaces of the cornea, while also distinguishing epithelial cells and stroma. The module can also provide post-operative monitoring of the corneal epithelial healing and refractive power outcomes, all from the same data. The enhanced FullRange technology also allows for cornea and anterior chamber morphology. Reports taken by the module are customizable with 6 maps that can be added simultaneously, including the anterior/posterior axial, tangential, power, and elevation tomography maps.1

“As our treatments for ocular conditions are becoming more readily available, it is critical that eyecare providers have the appropriate technology to maintain quality patient care,” stated Nate Lighthizer, OD, FAAO, and Aubry Tackett, OD, in the release. “Often this means finding additional space for more and more devices. The addition of topography software on the Optovue Solix by Visionix device offers an accurate, easy to use solution to this problem. Our clinic can now obtain accurate topographic information faster than with any other topographer at our disposal, and we are able to do so at the same machine we image for screening of retinal conditions and optic nerve anomalies. The amount of data given by the Optovue Solix Topography module is unmatched. In a single second we can obtain information regarding the anterior corneal surface, posterior corneal surface, corneal thickness, and epithelial mapping all of which help us better serve our patients and ensure the highest level of patient care while maintaining clinical time and space efficiency.”

Demos for the module or ROI consultations can be booked at Visionix’s website.
