AOA calls for courses for 2021 Optometry’s Meeting

Continuing education programs needed

The American Optometric Association (AOA) is calling for continuing education courses for Optometry’s Meeting 2021 in Anaheim, CA, the AOA Virtual Learning Livecast, and AOA’s EyeLearn Professional Development Hub. The “Call for Courses” is open at the AOA website and is accepting submissions through October 4, 2020.

AOA members can help the organization deliver new education experiences by registering as speakers for next year’s events. The organization is seeking speakers from diverse backgrounds and at all career stages.

Featured Council on Optometric Practitioner Education (COPE) approved courses may cover all areas of ophthalmic education, including those that address emerging technologies, innovations in optometric patient care, business management, and doctor education topics such as:

• Systemic disease

• Autoimmune

• Cardiovascular

• Diabetes

• Genetic diseases

• Hypertension

• Neurodegenerative disorders

• Thyroid dysfunction

• High-risk medications

These courses could be 2 or more individual presentations that range from overview to deep dive into variants, management, clinical and staff directives, technology, and electronic health records (HER) integration.
