The new anti-reflective lens coating outperforms its predecessors by up to 70%

Essilor has launched a new generation of its Crizal coating and multi-pair promotion in the UK. The new, anti-reflective coating, named the Sapphire HR, includes several durability enhancements.

Sapphire HR underwent a number of life proof tests in development, including an abrasion resistance test and a multi-angular reflection test, according to the company. The resulting coating is 70% more scratch resistant and up to 20% more thermal resistant than its predecessors.

“ECPs can be confident about offering a solution to shield patients’ eyes and their lenses against obstructions for a long-lasting transparency, with the promise of durability, ease of care, and UV protection,” said Tim Precious, managing director at Essilor Ltd.

For independent optical practices, Essilor has launched a 2022 take two promotion with all branded lenses including Stellest, Eyezen Kids, Varilux and Transitions in the UK. The second pair purchased is either discounted by up to 50% or free dependent on the product chosen.

The take two promotion took effect February 1, 2022 and will remain active until December 2022.
