The new technology, tailored to creative professionals, reduces the light that passes through the lens without reducing the color of light that is transmitted.
GUNNAR Optiks has unveiled a new computer eyewear line designed for creative professionals in the Arbor collection, which utilizes Clear Pro lens technology. The collection is the first to utilize this technology, according to a news release. The eyeglasses work to reduce the amount of light passing through the lens without sacrificing color quality.1
“The technology represents over 10 years of optical research in color rendition, digital eye strain, and visual ergonomics to design the best lenses for creative professionals,” the release stated. Additionally, the computer glasses reduce blue light exposure by 20%.
“Clear Pro represents the next step for creative professionals who need to combat digital eye strain without compromising craft,” said GUNNAR CEO and Cofounder Joe Croft in the release.
The Arbor collection is a series of wood frames with a carbon fiber inner weave which increases durability and weight savings. Additionally, the collection also sports flexible spring hinges, GShield Premium lens coating which is anti-reflective, smudge resistant, hydrophobic, and oleophobic, is made of proprietary polyamid lens material to improve optical clarity, and blocks 100% of UV rays. The series comes in 2 different styles: Humboldt and Muir. The styles get their inspiration and names from different scenic parks in the US: Humboldt from the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada and the Muir style from the Muir Woods in California.2,3
Additionally, Humboldt and Muir are available in prescription glasses, GUNNAR-Focus, which specifically works to minimize eye strain and block blue light, and sunglasses. Prescription glasses are available in single vision, intermediate progressive, and distance progressive lenses. While the collection is available on GUNNAR’s website, select retailers including Amazon will have the frames available toward the end of April, according to the release.1
Clear Pro technology is also a signifier of GUNNAR’s shift beyond traditional gaming glasses, according to the release. The current computer glasses available at GUNNAR work to address all short and long-term side effects of digital eye strain, which includes headaches, dry eyes, blurry vision, glare, negative effects of artificial blue light, eye strain, and fatigue.1
GUNNAR also offers other performance levels of eyewear with various degrees of different technologies. The company’s Signature series features precision engineered polymer for its frame, advanced polycarbonate for lens material, and the base level GShield that consists of a scratch resistant hard coat and dual sided anti-reflective coating. The Epic level includes a frame made of integrated hybrids, and a lens made of advanced polycarbonate and protected with GShield Plus, that includes all protections available at the base level level but with additional oleophobic coating. The top level, Legendary, has frames made with high performance alloys and exotics, with lenses made of proprietary polyamid with GShield Premium.4
