Conference location moves to Denver due to pandemic

The American Optometric Association (AOA) Optometry’s Meeting 2021, originally scheduled to take place in Anaheim, California, will now occur at the Denver Convention Center in Denver, Colorado, on the originally scheduled dates of June 24 to June 26.

Event organizers–AOA and the American Optometric Student Association (AOSA)—announced the location shift is because of challenges from the novel coronavirus 2019 pandemic.

“After an extensive review of potential venues, the Denver Convention Center was selected by our team because Denver is safely open and due to the health and safety protocols put in place and accreditations received from GBAC Star, ASM Global, and Denver 5-Star certification programs,” says William T. Reynolds, OD, AOA president, and Alex Bennet, AOSA president, in a statement.

Reservations with Optometry’s Meeting 2021 official hotel provider OnPeak are not yet open to the public, but an announcement should be coming soon, according to the AOA. A preregistration form is available at: https://amopt.wufoo.com/forms/q1l1mion0a1bnye/ for interested participants.
