The World Council of Optometry (WCO) and CooperVision’s Myopia Management Navigator has seen prominent growth since its launch less than a year ago.1 According to the organization, the educational resource is now being actively used in 126 countries, equating to 64% of the world’s countries, as of December 2024. The US, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, India, Australia, and Canada are cited of the most active users of the resource, according to a news release.

“We celebrate this enormous achievement for the navigator, which demonstrates the impact the Navigator is having all over the world,” said WCO President Sandra Block, OD, MEd, MPH, FAAO, FCOVD, in the release. “As the adoption of myopia management continues to grow, so does awareness of the crucial role myopia management plays in protecting vision in children now and adults in the future. We look forward to seeing even more users explore the navigator in the years ahead, driving continued progress in transforming children’s eye care.”

Launched in April 2024, the resource was developed to support the adoption of myopia management as the standard of care by means of providing evidence-based content, advice, and practical actions for eye care providers. Mitigation, measurement, and management are all highlighted in the navigator and are coupled with actionable insights for each section.1 These actionable insights are available in the form of downloadable resource, educational videos, and articles. Eye care providers can also explore past webinars, tools for practice, and new research through WCO’s Multimedia Resource Center. 2

The Myopia Management Navigator was made available off the heels of WCO’s development of the myopia management standard of care resolution, which includes the 3 main standard of care pillars of mitigation, measurement, and management. The navigator is 1 of the ways that WCO is working to advance awareness and adoption of the initiative.1
